Meet the people who keep your city running
City employees are responsible for all city streets, storm sewers, sidewalks, traffic signage, as well as city vehicles and major pieces of equipment. They provide public rights-of-way maintenance such as roadway mowing, alley cleaning, dead tree removal, rubbish/debris removal, yard waste removal, and snow removal. city employees staff the water and wastewater treatment plants; maintain 550 miles of water line and 100 miles of sewer line; and provide solid waste pickup and recycling services for residents and businesses of Manchester.
All of the city's parks and recreation areas are maintained by city staff including the Big Hickory Golf Course, splash park, and the Bert T. Combs City Park that consists of a recreation center, lake, pool, equestrian trail, and RV park. The department also provides labor and equipment for a variety of community service functions, such as festivals, and parades.
